Challenge Samarkand is a three-day festival in the heart of Central Asia.

Challenge Samarkand left a lasting impression on guests not only as an incredible race but also with a variety of exciting activities. The press conference, pro panel, a running workout with Kristian and Gustav, and the Welcome Party—each of these events offered many bright and memorable moments. Here’s a closer look at how everything went:

Press Conference and Pro Panel

The pro athletes who took part in the press conference included:

– Kristian Blummenfelt (Norway) – Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion, Ironman World Championship winner;

– Gustav Iden (Norway) – multiple-time long-distance triathlon world champion, participant in the 2020 Olympics;

– Rico Bogen (Germany) – 2023 Ironman 70.3 Junior World Champion;

– Laura Madsen (Denmark) – In 2024, she won Ironman 70.3 Les Sables D’Olonne and Ironman 70.3 Valencia, placed 2nd at the prestigious Challenge “The Championship” in Samorin in 2024, and Challenge Peguera Mallorca in 2023;

– Nicole Van Der Kaay (New Zealand) – Champion and medalist in international competitions, participant in the 2024 Olympics;

– Alina Khakimova (Uzbekistan) – In 2024, she won Ironman 70.3 Astana and Challenge Samarkand, and placed 3rd in Ironman 70.3 Dubai in 2023 and Challenge Almere-Amsterdam in 2022.

The athletes shared their expectations for the upcoming race, discussed their impressions of Samarkand and its atmosphere, and answered questions from both media representatives and triathlon enthusiasts who were also preparing for the race.

Running Workout with Kristian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden

The running workout with Gustav Iden and Kristian Blummenfelt gave participants a unique opportunity to spend time with world triathlon stars, get autographs, and take memorable photos. It was also a chance to train with like-minded individuals and experience the competitive spirit in the company of the best.

Welcome Party

The Welcome Party is an important tradition before any triathlon race! It’s a time to meet with friends and colleagues, discuss the upcoming competition, and share excitement and expectations. An added bonus was the delicious pasta from our main partner, Roni. The evening hosts made sure this gathering would be unforgettable: guests enjoyed exciting interactive activities, triathlon-themed quizzes, live communication, and great vibes.

Post-Race Plov

Another interesting tradition, already established by the Uzbekistan Triathlon Federation, is the post-race plov. This national dish, made from rice, meat, and vegetables, is a true hallmark of ancient Asian cuisine. Enjoying plov after a long and grueling race feels like recharging your energy and restoring your strength.

Festive fireworks.

And to top it all off, a dazzling fireworks display to spectacularly close the race!

It’s the perfect time to register for Challenge Samarkand!
